Wal-Mart Agrees To Settle EEOC Suit, Revise Hiring Practices

Wal-Mart has agreed Dec. 17 to pay $6.8 million to settle a suit alleging it violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to the EEOC. The Arkansas-based retailer signed a consent decree in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, Calif., resolving the EEOC suit and agreeing to change its hiring practices. The retail giant admitted that it asked disability-related questions on job application forms between 1984 and 1988.
