Macular degeneration drug may treat vision loss in diabetics

U.S. researchers found the macular degeneration drug Lucentis, sold by Genentech, helped diabetic patients with some vision loss see more clearly. The researchers say the drug appears to block a protein that promotes the growth of new blood vessels, which can block light from reaching the retina.
