New Senate banking chairman wants permanent TRIA

The new chairman of the Senate banking committee opposes extending the 2002 Terrorism Risk Insurance Act which provides "backstop" coverage when claims related to terrorism reach a certain level. "I will not do another extension," Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., says. "My goal here is to establish a permanent piece of legislation, not a temporary one."
