Plan pitched to help overloaded building inspectors

Lawmakers in Washington are considering a plan to provide $100 million in funding to help overburdened building inspectors handle their loads in crowded suburbs or places where natural disasters took place. The proposal follows a Chicago report showing suburban building inspectors risked missing critical safety issues due to their inspection overload.
