British Airways, Qantas halt merger negotiations

British Airways said CEO Willie Walsh and Qantas CEO Alan Joyce failed to come to an agreement over which carrier would control the merged company. Disclosure of the merger talks "had created unrealistic expectations about a ratio that could never have been delivered given the two relative values of the airlines," said Tony Cane, a BA representative.
