Sprint, Verizon move on opening location services

In a move to get location-based services out to even those without GPS chips, Sprint Nextel will give out essential data needed to create the application to third-party developers, instead of limiting the information to its partners. Verizon Wireless told its customers via e-mail that it will unlock its location data to third-party developers next year on three handsets --- the Samsung Omia, Samsung Saga and the HTC Touch Pro.
