Students in Florida's Miami-Dade district will continue learning over winter break by accessing online reading and math lessons. The district is loaning laptop computers to students in three high-poverty schools and encouraging other students to use public libraries if they do not have access to a computer. Printed packets of the material are also available. "Our goal is to make the most of educational time during the holidays and beyond," Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said of the optional activities. "Schools will be closed, but learning will continue."
