Senate banking committee approves Bernanke's nomination

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke was endorsed for a second term by the Senate banking committee in a 16-7 vote that came after expressions of anger about the economic crisis and the shaky recovery. That was a less-than-fatal setback for Bernanke, who enjoyed almost unanimous support from the committee four years ago. A few of Bernanke's supporters hinted that they might change their mind when the full Senate votes on his confirmation.
