When older clients' financial capacity diminishes, it can often fall to their adult children to take control of their finances. CPAs should take care to preserve their clients' confidentiality in these situations, writes James Sullivan, CPA/PFS. They should determine which taxes have been filed and look to prior years' returns as a starting point to find missing information.
