Proposal gives states flexibility on basic health benefits

The HHS on Friday announced that states will be allowed to select the basic set of benefits required by plans participating in the health insurance exchanges mandated by the Affordable Care Act. The proposal gives states flexibility as they set up the exchanges, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said. The public has until Jan. 31 to comment on the proposed rule, the agency said.
