Publisher will sidestep textbook review in Va.

The school-textbook publisher that came under scrutiny in Virginia last year for printing inaccurate information in history texts will not submit its new science books for state review. The incident with Five Ponds Press last year led the state to strengthen its voluntary approval process. The publisher is marketing directly to districts, which can use textbooks that are not approved by the state.
