Conference committees reach compromise on $633B defense bill

Conference committees in the House and Senate have reached a compromise in crafting what will be a $633.3 billion defense authorization bill, including key issues such as detainee rights, biofuels and an East Coast missile defense. The bill is likely to reach the White House on Friday, this blog says. Senate Armed Service Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., said Tuesday that he doubted the bill would be vetoed.
