House bill would extend tax breaks, keep defense cuts

A "Plan B" bill up for a vote this week in the House would keep the nation from sliding off the "fiscal cliff" and would leave in place deep cuts in defense but would extend tax breaks to Americans making less than $1 million a year. "We would not touch the sequester," House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said of the measure, which is the latest offer from the House in the debate with President Barack Obama over a fiscal cliff solution.
