Study: Relationship between roof insulation and reflectivity

The thickness of a roof's insulation could affect energy savings and thermal performance as much as its amount of reflectivity, according to a continuing study by the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory in Princeton, N.J. The research examined the black- and white-colored roofs atop buildings at the institute and tracked temperature changes through weather sensors. The study will continue through January.
