2013 brought an "explosion" of fibromyalgia studies

The past year was a good one for fibromyalgia studies, with neurologist Anne Louise Oaklander of Massachusetts General Hospital saying it resulted in an "absolute explosion of papers" generating data that changes researchers' view of the disease. One of Oaklander's studies found that many fibromyalgia cases actually may involve a form of small-fiber neuropathy, while a study from Albany Medical College found excessive nerve fibers in the blood vessels of fibromyalgia patients.
