Brazil requires pharmaceutical track-and-trace system within 3 years

The Brazilian health regulatory agency Anvisa has issued rules requiring pharmaceutical firms to place a bar code -- a unique 13-digit/letter identifier -- on all medications marketed and distributed in the country within the next 36 months. "In the case of prescription drugs, the system will provide information from the producer to the buyer," said the head of Anvisa, Dirceu Barbano.
