Chinese company accused of paying kickbacks

Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding is accused of bribing physicians in 31 hospitals in Qingdao, China, to prescribe an anemia medication. A representative said the company has begun an investigation. Yu Mingde, chairman of the China Pharmaceutical Enterprises Association, said the practice was not uncommon and urged the government to spend more to bolster public health care and increase physicians' incomes.
