Comment period regarding partially hydrogenated oil is extended

The FDA has extended a comment period concerning the status of generally recognized as safe for partially hydrogenated oil to March 8. "This extension is being provided in response to numerous stakeholder requests to provide additional time for comments," the FDA said. If a preliminary determination to revoke GRAS status is finalized, partially hydrogenated oil will be considered a food additive and subject to premarket approval by the FDA.
