Rural communities look to attract young people

People have been migrating away from rural and manufacturing communities around the U.S. in recent years, data show. Now, some of these communities are using programs such as student loan repayment to attempt to bring young adults back, with the hope that businesses will follow and economic growth will happen. "It's difficult to recruit firms if you don't have a strong labor market," said John Cromartie, a geographer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
