Des Moines program caters to the not-quite-ready for full-day kindergarten set

Fifteen children with late summer and early fall birthdays who are not ready for full-day kindergarten are attending an optional kindergarten program three days a week. Teachers say the slower-paced instruction boosts the children's academic and social skills to help guarantee their success in all-day kindergarten the following year.
