Japan considers moves to counter yen's rise

Takeo Kawamura, Japan's chief Cabinet secretary, said officials are keeping an eye on the yen's sharp rise against the U.S. dollar and will intervene in currency markets if appropriate. The yen's steadily increasing value is creating problems for Japan's crucial export sector by making products more expensive for foreign buyers.
