LGBT leaders slam Obama's choice of anti-gay pastor for inauguration

Leaders of LGBT and liberal groups have denounced President-elect Barack Obama's decision to have Rick Warren, a mega-church pastor who campaigned for the passage of California's Proposition 8 marriage ban, to give the invocation at his inauguration. "This is a person who has fundamentally disrespected people like me on every occasion that he had opportunity. He has, in fact, leveraged homophobia to get ahead in his career," Human Rights Campaign's Harry Knox said of Warren. Obama defended his choice, saying he wanted a "a wide range of viewpoints" represented.
