Md. lawmakers to resume discussion on offshore-wind proposal

Maryland lawmakers are planning to reopen discussion of a bill that seeks to promote offshore-wind development in the waters off Ocean City, Md. Under the bill, construction of a wind farm would be funded by requiring the state's four investor-owned utilities to purchase offshore wind power for 25 years. The lawmakers are also considering adopting an incentive program, which would require utilities to purchase "offshore wind renewable energy certificates."
