Mobile is a highlight in mixed holiday season

Mobile commerce is the one unqualified success of the holiday shopping season, with a number of retailers reporting rising sales even as overall figures show signs of flagging. Among other indicators, PayPal said it saw a fourfold rise from a year before in the number of consumers shopping via PayPal Mobile on Cyber Monday. And looking ahead to the final few days, Ability Commerce CEO Diane Buzzeo says that "with shoppers carrying their smartphones and iPads nearly all the time, mobile promotions provide the ability to reach shoppers nearly instantaneously, ... [which] may prove crucial in reaching last-minute shoppers."
