Proposed school would have students building electric cars

A proposed new school in Philadelphia will focus on teaching students hands-on engineering and technology skills needed to design electric cars and find solutions to different energy-use problems. The Sustainability Workshop is being proposed by engineer-turned-teacher Simon Hauger, who started the workshop to teach practical problem-solving skills to inner-city high-school students and who is aiming to transform it into a full-fledged school by 2013.
