DOT takes 6 steps to reduce paperwork, ease certification

Six new actions are being undertaken by the Department of Transportation that, in total, could reduce the number of hours spent on recordkeeping by 450,000 hours. Three of the actions apply to regulations of the Federal Railroad Administration and could help smaller railroads save time. In addition, the FRA will create a streamlined process to certify locomotive engineers.
