Nintendo is set to go live with TVii in U.S., Canada

U.S. and Canadian consumers who own a Nintendo Wii U on Thursday will be able to use the gaming console for functions including scanning for programs on television and the Internet, and purchasing downloadable content. Nintendo's TVii service, which launched in Japan this month, turns the Wii U's GamePad into a multi-functional remote that can be used with cable, satellite and Internet services.
