Scoring system may predict cardiovascular death in diabetes

Type 2 diabetes patients with the highest coronary calcium score were more than 11 times as likely to die of heart disease than those with the lowest scores, a study indicated. The results suggest coronary calcium scoring may help providers evaluate diabetes patients at risk of cardiovascular death, researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
