Swiss Re: Insured losses from catastrophes may hit $65B this year

About $65 billion in insured losses from natural and man-made disasters is expected this year, down from $120 billion in 2011, according to Swiss Re. Total economic losses from catastrophes this year could amount to $140 billion, with the U.S. experiencing some of the most costly losses, the reinsurer said.
