Price and demand increases squeeze renters

Economic pressures have driven 43 million Americans into the rental market, the highest level in a decade. The demand for rentals is driving up prices and forcing many working families to spend up to half of their income on housing, according to Chris Herbert, research director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University.
