SEC proposes expansion of small-offering exemption

The Securities and Exchange Commission has voted to propose a rule exempting small-company stock offerings of as much as $50 million from registration for a year. The existing Regulation A exemption has an upper limit of $5 million. "This proposal is intended to help increase access of smaller companies to capital," SEC Chairman Mary Jo White said.
