Bumping rate declines to lowest point in 10 years

Airlines are bumping fewer travelers from scheduled flights, according to an analysis by USA TODAY. Carriers bumped 12 travelers per 10,000 for the first nine months of 2005, and most of the bumped travelers volunteered. Improvements in information technology have helped carriers lower the number of travelers bumped.
