First steel column for WTC skyscraper installed

At the place where so much steel came down so memorably in 2001, a 25-ton steel column went up Tuesday, marking the first actual construction as Manhattan's Ground Zero is converted from a hallowed hole to a soaring monument. Politicians and workers cheered as the first piece of the new 1,776-foot Freedom Tower was hoisted into place.
