Future Washington state elementary teachers are learning how to use cupcakes, playing cards and games to help make math concepts more accessible to young students. "Elementary teachers needed a stronger background in math," said Loretta Seppanen, assistant director of education services at the Washington state board. "We want elementary teachers to love math so they can help students love math."
