Wells' Dairy focuses on ice cream, divests dairy business

Family-owned Wells' Dairy announced it has decided to sell its milk plant in Le Mars, Iowa, to Dean Foods Co. to focus its efforts solely on its Blue Bunny ice cream and frozen novelties production. "Following extensive analysis, we have made a strategic decision to focus all of our efforts and resources on our core business of making quality ice cream," CEO Mike Wells said. The company also is considering selling its yogurt plant in Omaha, Neb.
