Physician EMR adoption depends on vendor, hospital partnerships

Hospitals and vendors, not the federal government, ultimately will drive electronic medical records adoption among doctors, a Kalorama Information report says. "There's a lot of focus right now on the HITECH incentives, but we think what vendors and health systems who piggyback off these incentives is even more important," said Bruce Carlson, Kalorama's publisher. The EMR market for 2009 will hit $13.8 billion, which does not reflect the market's full potential, noted the report.
