Mobile marketing group to take up privacy

The Mobile Marketing Association announced it would add a set of rules to its Global Code of Conduct designed to protect smartphone users' privacy. The initiative follows reports that many smartphone applications may be gathering and transmitting information about users surreptitiously. The guidelines will relate to eight services, including text messages, e-mail and GPS, the organization says.
