ADA advises against blanket driving restrictions

The American Diabetes Association, in a new position statement in Diabetes Care, said that general driving bans or restrictions are inappropriate for patients with diabetes and that patients who might pose a driving risk should be evaluated by a physician. The group also said it would prefer to see a standard questionnaire used to assess driving safety in all states.
