Canada's franchising laws could slow U.S. chains' expansion

U.S. quickservice and fast-casual restaurant chains including Popeyes, Qdoba and Famous Dave's are actively pursuing northward expansion into Canada, but the country's franchise laws and potential conflicts with homegrown chains with similar trademarks could slow them down, lawyers say.
