Scientists could declare official Higgs boson discovery in March

Physicists searching for the Higgs boson said they might announce the official discovery of the particle at a conference in March. "The way things are going ... we may be able to stop calling it Higgs-like and finally say it is the Higgs," CERN researcher Oliver Buechmuller said. CERN scientists refuted suggestions that they may have found a pair of Higgs particles, saying slight statistical aberrations in their data are responsible.
