Metro Fund buys Manhattan tower for more than $1 billion

A Sixth Avenue Manhattan office tower has been sold for more than $1 billion to a joint venture between Silverstein Properties and California State Teachers' Retirement System. The tower at 1177 Sixth Ave. makes three properties, all in Manhattan, purchased by Metro Fund LLC, the joint venture partnership and the purchase is the second billion-dollar real estate deal in Manhattan this month.
