Perks to ask for now

Employers are beginning to worry about worker retention, so it may be a good time to ask for perks that don't cost companies much, such as more paid time off or telecommuting. "Don't forget to emphasize what's in it for the business. If they grant your request, how will it improve productivity or otherwise serve the company's interests?" says Rosemary Haefner, vice president of human resources for CareerBuilder.com.
