U.S. Treasury building achieves LEED Gold certification

The 142-year-old Treasury Department headquarters in Washington, D.C., has won LEED Gold certification after undergoing several improvements. Upgrades include allowing more natural light to penetrate the building, enhancing the cooling and heating systems and making adjustments to promote water and energy conservation. The Treasury headquarters is said to be the oldest building to acquire a LEED rating.
