Maryland district may drop A/B block schedule model

Anne Arundel County Public Schools may switch to a modified form of block scheduling known as 4x4, following teacher complaints that the current system of alternate-day, double-length periods vastly increased their workload when it was implemented in the fall of 2003. Proponents of block scheduling argue the longer periods enable students to take more courses and delve more deeply into subject matter.
