Idaho HIE set to connect hospitals, providers

The Idaho Health Data Exchange will connect two hospitals and a physician group in January 2009 as part of a goal to have 100 physicians and three hospitals join the network by next June. The HIE, which is not funded by a grant as are most HIEs, takes participating fees and state funding. "It's tough in the beginning, but when you're bottom-line focused a leaner budget drives more efficiency," executive director LaDonna Larson said.
