Booking sites sue New York over hotel tax extension

Major online travel booking sites including Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz and Travelocity have filed suit against New York City in an effort to block a law enacted in June to extend the city's hotel room tax to third-party intermediaries. The law was passed in an effort to address a budget shortfall in New York, but the groups, which also include the American Society of Travel Agents and the U.S. Tour Operators Association, call the law unconstitutional.
