Students of Cathy Oshrain, a Miami-area teacher who cannot hear, say she is "an inspiration" to her students. Oshrain teaches popular high-school courses to students that can hear, covering three levels of American Sign Language and a class for students who are interested in careers as interpreters. She also helps her students better understand the culture of people with hearing impairments. "She shows us that we can do anything we put our minds to," one student said.
