French panel calls for more studies on Monsanto's biotech maize

France's advisory panel HCB recommended further studies to evaluate the potential effects of Monsanto's biotech maize, MON 810, on the environment. The statement is in response to a request by the French government, which cited environmental issues as a reason for banning the use of the crop in 2008.
