IMF: Developed nations to carry big, growing debt after downturn

A look at the debt load of the Group of 20 nations reveals trends that might come as a surprise. The International Monetary Fund projected that by 2014, the total government debt of advanced economies in the G-20 will account for 114% of their GDP. Among developing countries, debt will decline to 35% of GDP, the IMF said.
