UK Chancellor George Osborne and Business Secretary Vince Cable met with leading bankers to discuss bonuses and lending to businesses, but the government officials called for the talks to continue. Bank executives vowed to show "pay discipline" but declined to give details of how they would curb bonuses. The bankers also pledged to lend £70 billion to small businesses as part of a broader promise to lend £200 billion to companies.
